Knife Making Resources: Forges
Portable
Forge
Pix of a portable forge project.
It's about the right size for knives and other smaller things. The maker
says he has had problems developing enough heat until he installed the
blower you can see in one of the setups. Seems like a blower from the
get-go would be a requirement to make Damascus billets.
Custer
Portable Forge

Not much detail is available,
but here is the forge that Custer uses when making Damascus billets. They
mention that they have two forges because this one is contaminated with
flux used in the Damascus process. Note the substantial burner situation
with a 3 burner manifold. It takes a lot of heat to weld Damascus!

Hernandez
Great site and beautiful work,
here are some pix of his equipment:
Portable forge that uses a
T-Rex Burner: very potent! The second picture is Hernandez portable knife
shop with yet another forge and a hydraulic press. Note the large propane
tank. Beats constantly refilling BBQ tanks!
