Thanksgiving, 2001 a.k.a. The Turkey Cam
We set the table the day before...
The cooking began the day before, and we were up at 0700 on Turkey day to get started...
Wilma brought the Crudite and Salad, and made the gravy...
Dad was temporarily released from stroke rehab to provide managerial oversight...
The Turkey Cam has spotted the bird still roasting...
Houston, the Eagle has landed. Look at that spread!
Another view...
Looks good enough to eat!
The starch section includes cornbread-andouille sausage stuffing--emeril style, and garlic mashed potatoes...
There are candied yams, green beans with bacon and onions, corn on the cobb, ambrosia fruit salad, cranberries, spinach and mandarin orange salad with candied pecans, etc., etc.
Yum!
You can't imagine how hard it was to keep the hungry wolves at bay while I photographed the spread...
Pelmyni are a unique Russian dish -- steamed dumplings filled with seasoned meat. There is garlic sour cream to go with them...
David is chosen bird carver. Did a damn good job too!
Of course he had a lot of help. How many cooks does it take to screw in a lightbulb, anyway?
Dad has gone to sleep--the tell-tale glass of rum-laced egg nog is on the table in front of him...
First the salad course...
Now the Turkey course!
Here are two satisfied customers...
And two more satisfied customers...
Pumpkin pie time!
Two more pie lovers...
I couldn't eat another bite, but I'll try anyway!
