Cozumel Dining & Town There is surpisingly a lot to do on this little island. We met two groups of people while scuba diving that gave us some excellent tips. Tara and Laura Tara and Laura were visiting from Dallas/Ft Worth (there were an awful lot of Texans running around the place) and recommended Prima's to us. Tara is an employment law attorney and Laura is a hospital administrator. Our other new friends, Linn and Paul are from the Bay Area, and recommended an Italian place called Guido's. I knew from an earlier visit that Pepe's, recommended by our friends Edna and Steve was also an excellent restaraunt. Finally, our hotel proved to have a very nice restaraunt where an excellent Flamenco guitarist was playing his renditions of popular music. It really sounded wonderful! In addition, we got to dine on Diablo that Linn and Paul's children had caught the same day. It was grilled to perfection by the hotel and just melted in our mouths! Scuba divers are a gregarious lot and frequently were good sources of information about the local color. Our scuba operator, Rodolfo Soltero operates entirely from references and doesn't advertise, so his clientele tends to be especially discerning. The town itself has a number of activities. If you like to dance, Carlos and Charlie's is famous. We were sans dance partners (our wives hadn't yet joined us), but it was fun to watch the commotion the kids were putting up there one evening. Teenagers and college kids will love this place! Dancing on Tables at Carlos and Charlies. Aye Carumba! I prefer a visit to the town square to Carlos and Charlie's, myself. There is a beautiful old-fashioned square in Cozumel with lots of street vendors all around it. The shops are interesting, but the people watching is even better. The Local Cigar Vendor Looks Familiar, Maybe We'll See Him At Our Next Stop! The Boys Are Back In Town Cozumel Diving: Click here to see how the diving was, and then come back to resume the tour |
