I don't know the details of why this look is called a "UFO Mod", but it seems to be common for modders to want to make a glow emanate from underneath their PC. Given some of my recent plexiglass work in conjunction with water cooling the Borg Cube, I decided to go the typical EL Wire approach one better and fabricated this UFO mod base from 1/2" plexi and a dual cold cathode kit from Silicon Valley Compucycle. There isn't a lot too it, but it sure does look cool. I frosted the outside of the plexi with 220 grit sandpaper and a palm sander. It's a nice, quick mod with a lot of bang for the buck.
